I decided to try out something a little different with this panel that I have started, which has a developed drawing of weeds and overgrowth across it’s surface. I utilize transparent glazes of oil color to do two things on the panel—first, to colorize the white of the surface and set the drawing in place; and second, to add a pattern across the top of the entire piece so that the drawing could still be seen through the color. It took a little bit of figuring things out, but the end effect is quite optically interesting.
