INSTALLATION

Spatial works based on evolving concepts, 2007 (right) to now (left).

Painting and drawing take up space. This series of works by Melissa Furness are an exploration of how these traditionally 2D media can take on other forms. It is the artist’s goal to push traditional notions of painting, removing its historically established “aura” as a revered object only to be hung upon the wall. These series of works push painting and drawing into new realms through sculptural collaboration, by turning paintings into ruinous structures, as well as through experiments with painting and drawing on and off the wall through alternative methods of presentation.
