SMALL STACKS

These are a series of small works in both two and three dimensions and are produced with a range of media. They focus on small stacks, or mini piles of depicted “stuff” that create a sense of play while addressing both what it is that we hold dear to us as precious and worthy versus what it is that we choose to discard or trash and purge from our lives. Is an established “Canon” of untouchable art objects more significant than a pile of stuff that was once used? What is it that we should strive to have, to be, to own in life? What hurts and what nourishes? All of these questions arise from these small “sketches” which have allowed me to think through larger developing ideas.
